Jesus Stalkers

I was reading a book the other day. It had a lot of really good themes and stuff, and overall, was just a pleasant read. But the thing that caught my attention the most was on the very first page of the preface. The author’s wife was writing it, and in it she referred to her husband as “stalking Jesus all the way to his death.” The sentence struck me as strange at first. A very weird thing to say in the preface of a book. But the more I thought about it, the more beautiful the sentence became.

I think it caught me off guard, because in our society, stalking is obviously frowned upon and the word has negative feelings attached to it. This was the first time I had ever seen the word used in a positive light, meant as a compliment to the recipient. And what a great compliment it is. To be called a Jesus stalker means that I am obsessed with the Christ. That where he goes, I go. What he does, I do. It means I am doing everything I can to learn every detail about Jesus. I want to know how he walks, talks, breathes, laughs, cries, gets angry, and loves. Every moment of my day consisting of learning more, seeing more, striving to be more like Jesus. It means that all I want to do is be with Jesus. That if he walked in the room today, I would know him without a doubt, because I have spent my life chasing him. That is a Jesus stalker. Fascinated by the Lamb.
